I joined the Navy at 18. A year into my service — deployed, during active conflict — I fell four decks and broke my neck in six places. Six months in the hospital. Multiple surgeries. The kind of injury that rewrites everything you thought your life was going to be.
Glass blowing gave me something the surgeries couldn't — a reason to use my hands again, a way to quiet the noise, and proof that something beautiful could still come out of all that heat and pressure.
